UIC60 rail is manufactured according to the rules set by the International Union of Railways. To be more specific, this type of rail uses the European Standard EN 13674-1. This European standard is for railroad rails of 46 kg/m and greater weight for railroad tracks.
Nine pearlitic steel grades, ranging in hardness from 200 HBW to 440 HBW, are specified, including none heat-treated none alloy steels, none heat-treated alloy steels, heat-treated none alloy steels, and heat-treated alloy steels.
